A Change is Gonna Come

Just finishing listening to this song that my mother loved by Sam Cooke. This was the song that was played continuously when former President Obama was elected as the first Black president of the United States of America.

Is Change really gonna come? Will it be a beautiful change or a bloody change?

I just found out that a friend of a friend of mine, a child had been arrested for protecting themselves after being accosted and run down by several drunken Caucasian teens. Someone stated they considered themselves the Proud boys. This seems so scary! The young man they tried to run over is a great kid–a straight A student who happens to be Black. The law officials have been trying to find something negative about this kid because he stood his ground against at least seven individuals. He tried to turn and run away–they ran behind him. This is not the CHANGE that I am talking about. This is bloody change. I found out this group of teens have been harassing blacks for several months and they have been getting away with this! Not one of these kids have been arrested for any of these crimes. Change is inevitable, but as I look at the lyrics of Sam Cooke’s song, it aligns with this case. Here are some lyrics to this song —

It’s been too hard living, but I’m afraid to die
Cos I don’t know what’s out there beyond the sky
It’s been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will

There are so many pieces missing to this case, however, a CHANGE will come and hopefully it will be a beautiful change!
